Excellence in creating healthy sporting communities
This new award, sponsored by the Australian Drug Foundation, seeks to recognise best practice across the community sporting and recreation sector for the responsible management and prevention of harm relating to alcohol and other drugs. The award is open to all community sports clubs, codes or associations.
Judging criteria
Nominees must show success in:
- Creating a culture that focuses on young people, families, sport and community activities while discouraging alcohol and other drugs consumption
- Achieving a positive change in the club’s community profile
- Attracting increased junior, family and community participation in community and sporting activities
- Contributing to reduced alcohol and other drug related problems in the club and the local community e.g. alcohol related violence, and
- Enhancing the financial viability of the club(s) through increased membership, sponsorship (non alcohol-related) and diversified income.
