Family Drug Support’s ‘Stepping Stones to Success’ Program nominate as a finalist in the 2009 National Drug and Alcohol Awards
Family Drug Support’s Stepping Stones to Success program has been recognised as a finalist in the 2009 National Drug and Alcohol Award for Excellence in Prevention and Community Education.
The other finalists in this category are FebFast and TAFE NSW’s Alcohol and Drug Strategy. The judging panel, chaired by Dr Yvonne Bonomo, believe the field this year was the strongest ever. “The richness and diversity of the candidates was superb. They are always of a high standard but if these three finalists are anything to go by, Australia can be confident of a comprehensive approach to prevention in the future. There is some great work going on in this sector,” Dr Bonomo says.
Stepping Stones to Success provides the opportunity for family members supporting alcohol and other drug dependents to find better ways of coping by increasing confidence and competency in managing drug issues. The program operates on the evidence that highlights the importance of family support in successful treatment outcomes. Stepping Stones for Success enables families to cope better, become more resilient and survive the journey of supporting an alcohol and drug dependent.
The Australian Drug Foundation is a strong supporter of Stepping Stones for Success and recognises Family Drug Support’s contribution to the community in the areas of alcohol and drug prevention and education.
